About
I’m an amateur photographer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I’ve been taking photos since I was about 12 and worked in the retail photo business for about 10 years just prior to the digital revolution. After leaving retail I didn’t do much photography until I picked up a copy of Outdoor Photographer magazine about 3 years ago and it rekindled my interest. With the help of my family I purchased a Nikon D80 and a couple of lenses and have been back practicing the photography art since then. While I have done portrait photography in the past my preference is mainly in landscapes and wildlife. I’m lucky to live in an extremely beautiful part of the world and have quick access to the Rocky Mountains, expansive prairie, huge skies, and some interesting urban architecture. Enjoy my site and please feel free to leave comments and I’m happy to do reciprocal links if you have a site of your own.

Hi Kenton.
Just a quick note – I see from our incoming stats and your blog roll that you have Caliber still listed. Caliber has morphed into a new photoblog called All City (http://allcitysf.com/). We shuttered the old site and moved on to our new home a month ago. Hope you enjoy what we’ve been posting.
Best regards,
Bob
Thanks Bob, I forgot that I had that link on there. I’ll go and change it to the new site.

Hello.
I live in Cobourg, Ontario and I am taking Photography Level 1 at Fleming College. First assignment, take fifty pictures of a white egg on a black background to play with light. Choose four best and print.
It sounded easy in the classroom but is much more difficult at home. I looked on-line for inspiration and I found your image. I just love it. It has an intriguing grey shadow on the egg and it perfectly meets the rule of thirds. I’ve taken about 20 so far, none are nearly good enough and none have any of the four elements quite right (light, technical, emotion, colour). TMI?
Thank you for posting your picture, I’m inspired and keen to have another try.
Kindest regards.
Thank-you for the kind comment. Good luck with your egg pictures and, if you post any of them online, I’d be interested to take a look at the results.
